Characteristics

A water-based, gel-like refatting agent and protective film-former. It is used in emulsions, surfactant products, soaps, and alcoholic hand sanitizers, lending them its unique protective and moisture-retaining properties, as well as a nourished skin feel.

Jojoba Ester Gel consists of hydrolyzed jojoba oil, which is provided in a 20% concentration in an aqueous mixture for easier, more pleasant processing. Nevertheless, it is a high-yield product that can be used in relatively low dosages. It has strong film-forming properties and thus protects the skin and hair from drying out and from environmental influences. The product is highly substantive (adhesive) and survives rinsing without difficulty. For this reason, it is also excellently suited for rinse-off products.

In surfactant products such as shampoos and shower gels, it acts as a refatting agent, protects the skin from drying out, and softens the harshness of surfactants. Moreover, it improves the foam and makes it creamier and more nourishing. It can even be added to soaps and is completely stable in lye.

In skin care products like creams and masks, it has a strengthening effect on the skin barrier, protects against transepidermal water loss, increases skin elasticity, and counteracts skin redness. Due to the good adhesion of the film produced, it also supports other active ingredients, as these likewise adhere better to the skin and are released over a longer period of time. This also applies to perfumes. Particularly in combination with humectants (e.g., Propanediol Green or glycerin), a long-lasting increase in skin moisture can be achieved. In general, the skin feel of products containing Jojoba Ester Gel is perceived by many test subjects as more pleasant and nourished. This makes it an interesting additive for almost every cosmetic product.

It should be noted that Jojoba Ester Gel is basic and increases the pH value of products. This can also be used in a targeted manner to adjust the pH value instead of caustic soda or sodium bicarbonate.

Application concentration and processing

• 0.5 - 3% in surfactant products
• 0.1 - 0.5% in perfumes
• 0.5 - 5% in emulsions, masks, and hair conditioners
• pre-dissolve in alcohol, glycerin, or glycols (simply stir)
• alternatively: simply stir directly into the finished product at the end
