With Emulblend Olea, you can effectively replace Emulblend Helio 1:1. The emulsions will feel only slightly lighter, but will be just as stable and consistent, and will provide just as much moisture.
Characteristics
Good consistency, high emulsifying power, easy to apply, and an excellent skin feel - everything an emulsifier should be able to do!
Emulblend Olea is a combination of a non-ionic emulsifier derived from olive oil, an effective anionic emulsifier, and a consistency agent - all made from 100 percent plant-based raw materials (olive oil fatty acids, polyglycerin, lactic acid, stearic acid, and cetearyl alcohol). As simple as that sounds, this emulsifier is a true supertalent. Olive oil is rich in unsaturated fatty acids that are similar to those in our skin lipids, and lactic acid occurs in our skin as a natural moisturizing factor. This is why Emulblend Olea is ultra-mild on the skin and offers moisturizing and protective properties - making it excellent for, among other things, care products for dry and sensitive skin.
Furthermore, this emulsifier is very simple to use and possesses high emulsifying power - meaning it quickly forms bright white and stable emulsions with a liquid crystalline structure. Emulblend Olea can even handle ingredients that are incompatible with many other emulsifiers. For example, acids (fruit acids - AHAs), glycols (e.g., pentylene glycol), or salts (e.g., calcium pantothenate, or urea) can be used without destabilizing the emulsions. Naturally, only to a certain extent. The pH value of the finished emulsion should be between 4.5 - 8.
Because the melting point of this product is extremely low, no high temperatures are required to melt it. Emulblend Olea can be processed at temperatures as low as approx. 55 degrees. This has the advantage that the cooling process is completed much faster, and a consistent emulsion forms more quickly. Naturally, this is also noticeably energy-saving - other emulsifiers sometimes have a much higher melting point. Emulblend Olea therefore saves time and money!
The sensory properties of this super-emulsifier are also impressive. It tends to form consistent but light emulsions that absorb quickly and provide a silky-smooth skin feel with a powdery finish. In addition, these emulsions are very easy to apply and show little whitening on the skin, which is why Emulblend Olea is also an excellent choice for body lotions.
The special, liquid crystalline emulsion structure created by Emulblend Olea contains plenty of free water, which is immediately available to the skin upon application. This is noticeable as a fresh and hydrated feeling that immediately counteracts feelings of tension and dryness.
Depending on the desired consistency and the amount of oil, Emulblend Olea can be used at 3 - 6.5%. Light emulsions with 10-15% oil content require only 3 - 4% of the emulsifier, while appealing creams are created with 15 - 25% oil and 4 - 5% emulsifier blend. But even more extreme oil phases up to 50% oil are theoretically possible.
Due to the cetearyl alcohol contained in the emulsifier blend, no additional consistency agent is necessary; however, adding additional cetearyl alcohol to the formulation can lead to a strong increase in the viscosity of the emulsion, if desired. Even 1 - 2% leads to highly viscous creams with a buttery texture.
Emulblend Olea combines excellent properties for processing as well as for the skin itself and is a reliable companion from your first cream to professional formulations.
