Emulblend Hydrofeel is a combination of a co-emulsifying wax (sorbitan stearate) and a non-ionic emulsifier (sucrose cocoate). Both raw materials are derived from plant sources – vegetable oil and sugar – and are highly tolerable, environmentally friendly, and easily biodegradable.

As simple as it sounds, this emulsifier is a true super talent. The optimal combination of the two substances enables emulsions with lamellar, liquid-crystalline gel structures that can bind a large amount of water. This leads on the one hand to high product stability and on the other hand to the fact that the bound water (together with the active ingredients contained) can be released to the skin over a long period. This makes it possible to create moisturizing products that not only have an extremely positive effect on the skin's moisture supply, but also feel "moist" yet creamy and light. Feelings of tightness and dryness are sustainably reduced. Because of this, and the product's high skin compatibility, this Emulblend Hydrofeel is excellently suited for dry and sensitive skin.

For this effect, it is recommended to dissolve Emulblend Hydrofeel in the water phase. Although it is also possible to melt it together in the oil phase, the oil-soluble properties then predominate, and rather unstable W/O emulsions are formed. However, when dissolved in the water phase, net-like structures form that enclose water – so-called "hydrosomes". These can also enclose the emulsified oil droplets in their system and thus ensure high stability even in emulsions with a very high water content, such as milks or serums – the oil droplets cannot easily flow together (coalesce).

Emulblend Hydrofeel can be used alone without any further co-emulsifier or consistency agent, but the combination with fatty alcohols (such as cetearyl alcohol) acts synergistically and further supports the special properties of the emulsifier. However, Emulblend Hydrofeel itself can also be used as a co-emulsifier, stabilizer, and consistency agent. For this purpose, it can also be dissolved in the oil phase.

It is also possible to use the emulsifier as a co-emulsifier in hair conditioners and masks. This makes the products richer, creamier, and gives them more consistency. In anhydrous products such as balms and sticks, Emulblend Hydrofeel acts as a "wax substitute" and allows for the incorporation of water-soluble substances, or increases the solubility of the end product in water – e.g., in shower bars, shampoo bars, shower butters, or even hair waxes. Furthermore, Emulblend Hydrofeel can theoretically also be used as a refatting agent in shampoos and shower gels.

Emulblend Hydrofeel is therefore a very versatile emulsifier that can sensibly supplement many different products and also enables new product options.

Usage concentration and processing

• 2 - 3 % for lotions
  
• 4 - 5.5 % for creams
• 1-2 % as a co-emulsifier
• Melting point: 55 degrees
• melt in the water phase at approx. 80 degrees
  
• for optimal formation of hydrosomes, allow to swell for 20 minutes at over 75 degrees - stir occasionally
  
• for higher viscosity, the combination with a consistency agent is recommended (especially fatty alcohols)
