At INNOMETICS, we are particularly proud of our selected partners who inspire us with their passion, their ideas, and their activities. That is why we would like to introduce Marlie+Fengg to you.
Who are you?
We are Maria Hösch and Natalie Dietrich, and together we run the cosmetics manufacture Marlie+Fengg in Vienna.
What do you do?
We are a cosmetics manufacture, meaning we develop and create everything ourselves by hand. We are launching our first product in July: it is a natural cream deodorant where both the contents and the packaging are plastic-free and compostable.
We also offer DIY workshops where we work together with our participants to make great, unique formulations and products.
How did you get into natural cosmetics?
In general, the decision to choose natural cosmetics began with our love for our own bodies, for nature, and for the preservation of both. More specifically, it intensified when we met during our training as cosmetic manufacturers.
What inspires you as people and in your work?
Our love for high-quality cosmetic products and our shared vision for a sustainable future form the foundation of our work. All of our products are made as regionally, as organically, and as sustainably as possible. The daily challenges in development and production, as well as in sharing knowledge in our workshops, fill us with joy and gratitude.
Your biggest natural cosmetics mishap?
Our biggest mishap was due to our impatience and happened while we were creating the concept for our "Ecological Cleaning" workshop. During a test phase, we had a classic example of an acid-base reaction: we quickly poured citric acid and baking soda together with water on the side. The reaction was a wild fizz that spread most of the liquid all over our development lab. And it literally brought us to our knees when we had to clean up the flood afterwards.
A "learning" you can share with us?
Following right on from the story above – patience! It is just part of the process that not everything works out immediately. And every failure ultimately leads to success. So stick with it, learn, try, and… patience.
