Characteristics

Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate is a plant-based amino acid surfactant derived from coconut oil, supplied as a 38% liquid. It is characterized by its high tolerance for skin and mucous membranes and its good foaming properties.

 

Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate is a 38% anionic surfactant. It can be used for all types of liquid cleansing products because it is mild yet cleanses well.

While it can be used as the primary surfactant, it is most often combined with other surfactants, as it improves the foaming and conditioning properties, as well as the skin tolerance of the final product. It is generally suitable for all skin and hair types. For products intended for fine hair, it should not be used in high concentrations and should be combined with other surfactants (sulfates) to increase cleaning performance. Due to its mildness and sensory properties, it is ideally suited for use in facial products.

Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate can be used to thicken and clarify surfactant products. This works very well in combination with Lauryl Glucoside. The pH of the final product should be between approximately 4.5 and 5.4, as the thickening effect only truly takes effect in this range.

 

Note: This product can slightly crystallize in the cold. This manifests as slight streaks in the liquid. If this happens during transport or at home, simply place it on a radiator or in a warm place for a short while and the liquid will become crystal clear again!

Note: The previous version in our shop contained 30% SCG! This should be kept in mind if you are making older recipes with the current version (38%). However, it will not make a significant difference if you do not recalculate it.

• 5 - 40% in liquid surfactant products

• Simply stir with other surfactants and water
