Characteristics

A plant-based, paste-like product that can be used excellently as a basic surfactant for shampoo and shower gel.

Lauryl glucoside is a so-called alkyl polyglucoside (APG). This group of surfactants is also referred to as "sugar surfactants" and is produced from plant oils and glucose. Lauryl glucoside is therefore of 100% plant origin and is very easily biodegradable. It is the perfect basic surfactant for natural cosmetic surfactant formulations, as it offers good performance while also possessing consistency-building properties.

Used alone as a surfactant, it has a slightly conditioning effect on skin and hair and would weigh the hair down too much if used repeatedly. However, in combination with effective cleansing anionic surfactants, high-performing cleansing products can be produced. It is usually combined with sodium cocoyl glutamate or sodium coco-sulfate to create clear, viscous, yet mild products that can be thickened with common salt. It is also recommended to adjust the pH level to 5.0 – 5.5, as this is where the consistency of the final product is at its best.
