Characteristics
The vegetable base oil for light, non-greasy products for emulsions and anhydrous products
Unlike other vegetable oils, jojoba oil does not have a triglyceride structure but consists of so-called "linear" esters and is therefore often referred to as "liquid wax." Furthermore, it is particularly rich in gadoleic acid, a fatty acid that is typical of jojoba oil but rarely found in other oils. In addition, jojoba oil is very oxidation-stable and therefore has a long shelf life. Due to these special properties, jojoba oil is much more similar to the natural fats found in sebum and is therefore considered a particularly compatible oil.
Furthermore, jojoba oil does not sit heavily on the skin, yet still nourishes dry skin and protects it from moisture loss. It also has better spreading properties than other vegetable oils and is therefore popular for use in body lotions, as it allows them to be distributed more easily on the skin.
