Simple product protection from rapeseed!

Lipids (e.g., oils, butters, and waxes), fat-soluble active ingredients, and other fat-soluble substances can oxidize (turn rancid) over time due to oxygen in the air. To slow down this oxidative process, antioxidants are used. A popular antioxidant is tocopherol (vitamin E). It scavenges free radicals and thus protects, for example, oils or our skin cells—however, it oxidizes in the process and becomes inactive. "Tocopherol" is actually a generic term for various substances. For example, "gamma-tocopherol" is used for product protection, while "alpha-tocopherol" is an excellent active ingredient for skin protection, but does not protect the product itself.

Our tocopherol consists of specific fractions that are used specifically for product protection. The active ingredient itself is derived from rapeseed oil and is also dissolved in it. The composition is over 70% tocopherol and 30% rapeseed oil. Since both the source of the tocopherol and the carrier oil are identical, the separate declaration of rapeseed oil (Brassica Napus Seed Oil) in the final product's ingredient list can be omitted.

We recommend the use of tocopherol particularly in products with alkaline ingredients such as baking soda or zinc oxide—for example, in deodorant sticks or deodorant creams. In combination with Anti-Ox Lipid, this can sometimes lead to an undesirable bluish discoloration. Should this occur, we recommend using our pure tocopherol as an alternative!

Usage concentration and processing

0.05 - 0.3% in all types of lipids and anhydrous products (oil mixtures, balms, and sticks) - depending on the oxidative sensitivity of the lipids used
Stir into the finished product below 45 degrees
Can be heated during processing to protect sensitive oils from heat—however, temperatures above 70 degrees, as well as maintaining the temperature for long periods, should be avoided
