Characteristics
With a magnetic stirrer, you can easily stir all sorts of cosmetic products such as surfactant formulations (shower gels), emulsions, and anhydrous products (balms).
Beneath the stainless steel plate is a magnetic drive that stirs your product directly inside your beaker via the inserted magnetic stir bar.
Because the stirring takes place right at the bottom of the glass, little to no air is introduced into the product, and you can stir all kinds of liquids. Only very high-viscosity products (e.g., creams) need to be stirred by hand in between.
The magnetic stirrer is particularly well-suited for allowing products to cool while stirring. This is especially important for formulations that tend to crystallize—for example, when butters, waxes, or fatty alcohols (especially behenyl alcohol) are involved.
