Who are you?
My name is Julia, I am 37 years old, and I live with my family in beautiful Lower Austria.
What do you do?
On my website www.julesmoody.com, I show nature-loving women how they can easily make their own natural cosmetics at home.
My focus is on simple recipes using natural raw materials and herbs directly from nature.
How did you get into natural cosmetics?
I spent forever searching for the perfect cream recipe and tried everything from expensive to budget cosmetics and from conventional to natural products. But in the long run, I was never satisfied with what I bought.
That is why I started making my own, and today I am happy to be able to whip up my natural cosmetics exactly as I need them at any given moment. I simply adapt them to my current needs and provide my skin with the ideal support. My complexion has never been as clear, soft, and refined as it is with homemade natural cosmetics.
What inspires you as a person and in your work?
In my work, I am inspired by the following: I have always enjoyed working with people. I love supporting them. I still remember exactly how lost I felt at the beginning of my "mixing adventure" and how tedious it was to have to hunt for all the information.
My heart simply beats for beginners, and I love making my customers' lives easier in this area.
As a person, I am inspired by the power and rhythms of nature, the beauty of our planet, and the secrets of foreign cultures and our solar system. I know, that is quite a range, but there is sooooo much to discover and so much that is interconnected. And that is exactly what inspires me so incredibly much.
What was your biggest natural cosmetics "oops" moment?
It wasn't that long ago that my daughter and I whipped up a "monster."
Together, we mixed a great cream recipe, and the consistency and nourishing power were exceptional. Because I didn't like the scent, I added a few drops of an essential oil that I usually quite like. Unfortunately, in combination with the other scent notes in the cream, the essential oil clearly wasn't the right choice, because suddenly it smelled like disinfectant. :-D And absolutely nobody needs a cream that smells like disinfectant!
My daughter smelled it and said, "Mom, we've created a monster." Thank goodness I was able to counteract it with a little finesse, and while the cream didn't smell heavenly, at least it no longer smelled like disinfectant.
A "lesson learned" that you can pass on to us?
My lesson: Always start by learning the basics. Research how each raw material is used and in what concentration. This will save you a huge amount of frustration and time, and it helps you conserve valuable raw materials.
What is your favorite INNOMETICS raw material?
Oof, having to limit myself to just one isn't fair! What I love about the INNOMETICS range are the innovative raw materials, which have been selected with great attention to detail. I especially find the emulsifiers and active ingredients to be super!
