Silica powder, also known as silicic acid or silicon dioxide, is a fine, mineral powder used in many skincare and cosmetic products. It has versatile properties and is popular for use in decorative cosmetics and powder products.

However, it can also usefully enrich all kinds of products. Spherasens consists of special, spherical silica bodies that feel particularly soft on the skin due to their shape and improve the application of, for example, emulsions, as the spheres roll gently over the skin. Furthermore, the spheres scatter light and therefore also have optical effects.

Spherasens has the following properties:

• mattifying effect – Absorbs excess skin oil and ensures a long-lasting matte finish, ideal for oily skin
• reduces oiliness - In greasy emulsions, (deo) sticks, or balms, it can be used to reduce the oil shine of the products themselves - this allows for the creation of rich products that still do not feel too greasy
• improves application - reduces waxiness or a dragging sensation during application by allowing the products to "roll" over the skin
• optical pore refinement – Makes the skin appear visually smoother by providing a soft-focus effect and thus concealing fine lines and pores
• velvety skin feel – Improves the texture of creams and powders without weighing the skin down
• sebum control – absorbs the skin's own sebum long-term, regulates oily shine, and helps prevent blemishes
• setting finish – Used in powders and makeup products to extend durability

Due to its fine, silky consistency, Spherasens is suitable for a multitude of products and improves many properties. This makes it easy to upgrade ordinary products into special ones, or even create entirely new products!

Usage concentration and processing

• 0.4 – 5% in emulsions, sticks, and balms
• 3 - 20% in powders
• incorporate into the oil phase (highly spreading oils improve dispersion)
