"Basic" Shampoo Bar
This solid shampoo cleanses all hair types thoroughly, providing shine and suppleness.
The “Basic” shampoo bar is one of four recipes from our skin and hair care DIY kits. Our DIY kits contain selected, high-quality raw materials and, thanks to step-by-step instructions, are also perfectly suited for beginners.
Difficulty level: ⭐easy
Production time: ⏱ approx. 30 minutes
Ingredients in grams (for 4 bars of 50 g each)
| A | 40 g | Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate |
|---|---|---|
| 128 g | Sodium Coco-Sulfate | |
| 6 g | Jojoba Ester Gel | |
| 16 g | distilled water | |
| B | 10 g | Cocoa Butter |
Instructions
- Weigh all ingredients from A into a bowl and mix them thoroughly.
- Gently melt the cocoa butter (B) at a low temperature (e.g., directly in a beaker or pot).
- Add the liquid cocoa butter to A and knead the mixture with your hands or a machine for a few minutes until a doughy, uniform mass (similar to shortcrust pastry) forms. Add your own personal touch to the product by including fragrances, colors, and/or active ingredients (e.g., orange oil).
- Now shape the mixture: Press the product firmly into molds of your choice or shape it by hand (e.g., into balls).
- Let your bars dry and harden for several days and look forward to trying them out.
Tip
To shorten the kneading time, you can pulverize the Sodium Coco-Sulfate in a kitchen blender beforehand (ensure you do not inhale the resulting dust, for example by using a face mask).
Have fun mixing!
How does our shampoo bar recipe differ from others?
Many manufacturers primarily use Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). This is the most aggressive surfactant available. However, the irritating effect is mitigated by adding certain waxes or oils.
Our recipes contain Sodium Coco-Sulfate (SCS). This is considerably milder than SLS. Furthermore, we combine it with Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate. This is based on the skin's own amino acid "glutamic acid" and is extremely mild and skin-friendly. It also creates a creamy lather and has a more "nourishing" effect on skin and hair. A Jojoba Ester is also included as a protective and conditioning agent. This has an extremely conditioning effect and retains moisture.
Of course, every scalp is different. Our shampoo bar has now been tried by over 100 people and rated positively. It is best to test our basic recipe and then adjust it. For dandruff, for example, you can use more of the milder Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate or experiment with the fat content or the Jojoba Ester content.
For fragrance, use suitable oils. For itching, for example, our Frankincense essential oil and/or Lavender oil. Both oils have a calming effect – especially Frankincense, however, also contains anti-inflammatory active ingredients. As an additional soothing ingredient, you could also try Calcium Pantothenate. It has a calming, wound-healing, and moisturizing effect (also great in a hair tonic after washing!).
